WHY SELF STUDY BETTER

WHY SELF STUDY BETTER

I am associated with IBPS Examinations since last 40 years. A question always asked by the aspirants and their parents. Is it necessary to join coaching institute for Bank PO/CLERK/SSC/RAILWAY/LIC for sure selection. I have logically worked on this QUESTION and arrived at the conclusion that preparation at home is better than coaching institutes.

WHY ?

Low standard of teaching at coaching institutes

Let's accept a fact that salary of a PO is around Rs. 45,000 and institutes pay Rs.300 to Rs.500 per 2 hours lecture to a teacher. Don't you think it will be better to become a PO then working as a casual labour?  Why they are working as teachers? The answer is simple - Because they are trying in competitive exams from past many years and unable to crack any exam. Except few, majority of them have never cleared any competitive examination. So what they are teaching you ?

They are actually not teaching you anything. You score won't improve at all if you solely rely on them.

Believe me, sometimes I find a new student is better at Maths or English than his/her teacher at a coaching institute.

Low quality study material
The coaching institutes provide short notes and test papers on each subject. What do you think? Is it possible to cover whole Quantitative Aptitude/Reasoning /English/General Awareness/Computer syllabus in 200-300 pages?
I realized why coaching institutes provide small books at the cost of reading material. Do you think anything new in these books? They want to complete the whole syllabus within 2-3 months. That's not enough to crack the examinations. Actually they endeavour to sell you,  your own knowledge which,  you acquired in your secondary school and graduation level in last 15 years through detailed study and high costs.

It is not financial feasible to provide quality content and experienced teachers to students. A optimum Batch size should not be more than  10-12 and fee for course and study material should be at least Rs.25,000. Course duration should be at least 6 months. But nobody is ready to pay this much. In short institutes are interested in making money but they can't make money by providing quality education.

Lollipop of Shortcut techniques
No coaching institute is going to teach you shortcut technique for any chapter because shortcut techniques never give 100% accurate answers in all possibilities.
Actually shortcut techniques are outcome of regular practice. It is an individual perception. Shortcut technique developed by me only works with me. No other person can adopt that technique because he/she has not gone through the process. While preparing yourself, you will find many shortcut techniques and you gradually you will draft some techniques yourself.

I have seen few students who solve every question from Quantitative Aptitude section using Algebraic equations only and I have also seen students who solve every question using estimation techniques only. Both of these students prepared for few months and they cracked IBPS PO.

Feel good Factor: Easy level practice questions
If you have ever been to a coaching institute, you might have realized that everything is so easy. From concept to practice questions and even their test series.

Why they do this while everybody knows the fact that exams are getting harder?

Because if institutes provide hard questions then they need to provide detailed explanations to students and they don't have skilled teachers. After every chapter there are 15-20 questions and you can't bring anything out of these few questions.

Those who do through systematic regular study and practice maximum questions can only see their name in selected list.

NO ROOM FOR SELF ANALYSIS
Who is interested in knowing your strengths or weaknesses?

It's only up to you and your parents.

If you are preparing at home or with your friends, you can find your weaknesses and then you can work on it.

Benefits of preparing at Home or in a Group

·      You can Study at your own speed. If you think you need more time for a specific topic, then you need not to take permission from anybody and can do so at your will..
·      Get the best and updated study material.
·      Save time and invest that time on reading newspapers and practice model papers
·      Save money,
·      save from tire out for going to institutes
·      Save from listening useless things under undue pressure.

Candidate preparing at home have higher probability of cracking the exam. Never get impressed by success rate of coaching institutes. I have seen many institutes in Indore and Jaipur who pay Rs.10000 to Rs.25,000 to successful students for their permission to print their photographs on their pamphlets and newspaper ads.

I have been worried on this issue since last many years and considered necessary to share my concerns on this issue. Some of the students, who could not crack competitive exams even after paying higher fees to coaching institutes and spending precious time, approached me for guidance.  I am supporting such aspirants since last two years without any fees. Most of them have cracked the SBI/IBPSPO/CLERK and SSC exams. I do not want any credit for that.

Though preparing at home or in groups is better than coaching, an experienced and dedicated mentor is required to go through the right path. One person must be there to monitor your performance. That is why this closed study group www.facebook.com/groups/NextGenCareers/  is formed.

That's the best way to prepare.
